Samuel Joseph Johnson was born to Benjamin Samuel Johnson and Susan Elvira Martineau.

Samuel Joseph was known as Jodie. Jodie was born in Skootempah, Kane County, Utah. Skootempah is a little bit southeast of Kanab, Utah. The story goes that the town got it's name from the kids running to their father and tell them to scoot because the federal marshalls were after the polygamists, thus skoot em pah.

This photo is of Jodie and his wife Cora May Allred when they were missionaries in California. The picture gives an age of 61 years old. Jodie was a year older than Cora May and he lived 19 years longer than she did. If the age is correct, then this picture was taken in 1939 or 1940. Cora May passed away in 1944, at the age of 65.
