It seemed that Grandpa Johnson (James Gerald Sr.) always had some type of "riding" toy for his grandchildren. Most of the time, these toys hung in the trees around his yard. The toys would weather while they hung outside, we would hop on them, they would break and we would fall. However, that didn't stop us from enjoying Grandpa's creations.
In the photo below, Grandpa Johnson is putting his grandsons, Grant and Kevin on a little riding horse. This picture was taken at Grandpa's home in Chino Valley and you can see Mingus Mountain in the background. Grandpa lived on Road 1 East, north of Perkinsville Road and on the east side of the road. The house is still standing today but it has been renovated quite a bit so it does not look like it did a half a century ago.
