Samuel Joseph's children

Samuel Joseph or Jodie married Cora May Allred.  They had 12 children.  Out of those 12, 11 of them lived.  The 11 children consisted of 9 boys and 2 girls.  Their children inherited size from both mother and father so they were large people.  The smallest of the sons was over 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds.  As a small child, they really did appear to be huge to me.

Two photos will be included in this post.  This first is of Jodie and Cora.

The second is a group picture of their children.  In the picture not all of the children are there.  Benjamin Reddin and Rufert Melvin had already passed away by the time this photo was taken.  Benjamin Reddin passed away at the age of 25 in 1926 and Rufert Melvin passed away in 1960.  This photo was probably taken in the mid 1960's at then the new LDS chapel on Ruth Street.

The boys are lined by by age.  The children of Jodie and Cora were known by their middle names, but here we will give the full names of the children.

Joseph Elbert, James Gerald, Ernest Fielding, Milford Ivan, Bernard Lavern, Samuel Glenn & Lloyd Douglas

Verna Visalis & Mary Elvira

Benjamin Reddin & Rufert Melvin are after James Gerald and before Ernest Fielding.

The child that died at birth was the youngest of all the children.  They named him Cyril Calvert.

Lavern and Verna were twins - thus the name similarity.
