Melissa was the first grandchild of Gerald and Dora Turley. She was born in Flagstaff, AZ and lived there the first 5 years of her life.
In these pictures she is being held by her grandparents. Grandpa Turley would hold her in one hand, her head in the palm of his hand and her body extending down his forearm, and rock her to sleep. He was able to rock almost all of his grandchildren for hours this way. That gives you an idea of how big and powerful his hands and arms were. Melissa loved the attention from her grandparents.
