Benjamin Samuel and Susan Elvira Martineau are Jodie's (Samuel Joseph) parents.
In this photo Benjamin Samuel and Susan Elvira are the adults. Joining them are three of their oldest living children. Their oldest child, Bertha Elvira died just 2 days after being born. (Bertha was born 2nd of March in 1877 and died on the 4th of March.) The three children in the photo are their next three children, Samuel Johnson in the back, Susan Wilmirth is the young girl and James Henry is the small child between Benjamin and Susan. Benjamin Samuel and Susan Elvira went on to have an additional 7 children.
