Brothers for Mayor in Mesa, Arizona

William Johnson LeBaron (1856-1929)

In doing genealogy research, I found a posting that said William Johnson LeBaron was the first mayor in Mesa, Arizona.  After goggling it, I found William Johnson LeBaron was indeed a mayor in Mesa but he was not the first.  He was the fourth mayor in Mesa.  The first mayor for Mesa occurred in 1883.  There were three mayors between 1883 and 1888 and in 1888, William Johnson LeBaron became the mayor.  He served for 8 years until 1896.

William Johnson LeBaron was the grandson of Ezekiel Johnson (1773-1848).
William's parents were David Tully LeBaron (1822-1905) and Esther Malita Johnson (1827-1876).
He married Zina Suzette Johnson (1860-1949)
who was the second daughter of Benjamin Franklin (BF) Johnson (1818-1905)
and Susan Adeline Holman (1841-1918).  

BF Johnson was an uncle to William Johnson LeBaron.
BF Johnson and William's mother, Esther Malita Johnson were siblings.
They were both children of Ezekiel Johnson and Julia Hills (1783-1853).
Ezekiel and Julia Hills Johnson had a total of 16 children.
BF Johnson was the 10th child and Esther Malita was the 15th child in their family.

This means William and Zina were first cousins.

David Tully LeBaron Jr. (1847-1899)

David Tully LeBaron Jr. was another grandson of Ezekiel Johnson
and the older brother to William Johnson LeBaron.
(David was 9 years older than William.)
David was the 6th mayor in Mesa, Arizona.
He served for 2 years from 1898 to 1899 before passing away in 1899.

David Tully LeBaron Jr. married another of BF Johnson's daughters.
He married Harriet Naomi Johnson (1860-1950)
who was the daughter of Harriet Naomi Holman (1834-1914), (the 4th wife of BF Johnson).
These two brothers, David and William,
married half sisters, Zina Suzette and Harriet Naomi Johnson.
Zina's and Harriet's mothers were sisters.
