At Shelley's Ranch

Dad and Mom (Gerald and Dora Turley) took us down to the Shelley Ranch for a mini vacation.
Well, it was a vacation for us and we spent out time riding horses and playing in the creek.
However, Dad and Grandpa Johnson (James Gerald Johnson Sr.)
were there to work on the ranch.
The ranch is located down by Walnut Grove
which is in between Prescott and Peeple's Valley and down by Kirkland.

Grandpa Johnson took a break from working to put Ray on a horse.

Grandpa Johnson is trying to put Carolyn on the horse.
Carolyn probably rode with Dad on the church ranch more than any of us and yet,
she was afraid of horses.
It is amazing what you will do for the love of a dad.

LaRee couldn't be left behind and needed a ride on the horse as well.

This is a picture of Grandpa and Grandma Johnson with the three youngest.
LaRee being held by Grandpa, Carolyn is standing in front,
and Ray being held by Grandma (Hazel Eunice Scott).

Grandpa Johnson is feeling right at home in the corrals with the calves.

Dad and Grant are either rolling up the sleeping bags or setting up camp.

Starting on the left: Kathy is on the horse with Dad, Grant is on the horse by himself, Gerry is sharing a horse with someone, and Grandpa Johnson is on the horse on the right side of the picture.

Grandpa Johnson is getting on the horse.
Mom always commented on Grandpa's stomach and how she felt sorry for the horse he rode.

Grant is playing in the creek by the ranch house.

Kathy is also out playing in the creek.

Gerry is holding Ray down in the creek.
I am amazed Ray is content to be held since he loved to play in any water and had no fear.

The four oldest kids (Grant, Kathy, Carolyn and Gerry) have survived the creek.
