Sarah Melissa Holman Johnson
The following was taken from the history of Sarah Melissa that can be found in the book
The Benjamin Franklin Johnson Family ~ A Royal Legacy or on the BF Johnson family
website.
My mother‘s parents were among the earliest converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and partook of all the persecution of those early days. They were acquainted with the Prophet Joseph Smith and often had him as a guest in their home. My mother knew the gospel from her early childhood. Her recollections of the Prophet were vivid and precious to her all the days of her life. When a child, my mother sat on the Prophet‘s knee.
At six years of age, she was baptized by him (for her health) in the Mississippi River. This incident was referred to about 1880, at a time when we were listening to a lecture being given by one who was traveling through our town of Spring Lake, Utah, some two years before we left for Arizona. The lecturer asked my mother to stand up and tell her story, which she did.
