After Gerry's operation, Mom and Dad bought a pair of used bikes for Gerry and Grant. The plan was to use the bikes to help Gerry get back some of her coordination lost during the operation process. Dad then took the two of us to the alley behind the house on 718 Flora Street and taught us to ride the bikes. Gerry learned but it was not her favorite thing to do. The bikes were the old fashion type meaning they were very very heavy. I wished we still had the bikes today because they would be a valuable collector's item today.
The picture above was taken to commemorate our first viewing of The Christmas Carol by Dickens. That Christmas was the first time we were able to watch this movie. Did you know that movie can be very scary if you are a kid? It is still considered to be the scariest movie Grant has ever watched and is the main reason he does not watch scary movies.
In the picture above the faces that might not seem familiar are those of our cousins, Lamar and Roseanne. In the picture we have (from left to right) Carolyn, Kathy, Roseanne, Lamar, Grant and LaRee. Our first TV is also in the picture. Those yellow buckets made for the best stools.
Grant giving Ray an imaginary ride on his bike.
Mom hiding in the doorway since she was in her pj's while Carolyn is checking out the presents underneath the tree.
A combination of the two pictures above, giving you an idea of the width of the old living room. It is only about 10 feet wide.
